How to review AI generated ads before they go live

AI ad tools can make fifty variants before lunch. Most of them look fine at a glance. The problems hide in the details: the wrong product color, a made up badge, garbled text in the corner. Here is how to review them quickly and properly.

Updated 4 Nov 2026. Facts and prices checked against the sources below on that date.

    Short answer

Check facts before taste. First the product, price, text, claims and rights. Then fit: placement, the page it links to and your brand. One named person approves the exact file that will run.

Common AI mistakes in ecommerce ads

    • The product changes slightly: a different cap, a new color, an extra button.
    • Badges and ratings appear that nobody earned, like Bestseller or five stars.
    • Small text in packaging or backgrounds turns into nonsense.
    • Hands, fingers and reflections look wrong on close inspection.
    • Variants in a batch are near copies, so the test learns nothing.

Fake proof is a legal risk, not a style issue

In the United States, the FTC rule on reviews and testimonials bans fake reviews and testimonials, including ones generated by AI. If an AI tool adds a quote or a rating, remove it unless it is real and you can show where it came from. Check the rules in each country you sell to.

Review in batches, not one by one

    • Group the batch by concept, then review one concept at a time.
    • Kill weak concepts first, then check details on the survivors.
    • Look at the batch next to your last ten live ads to spot sameness.
    • Write comments on the ad, then hand them back to the tool as the next brief.

Generator apps still need this step

Shopify App Store generators such as Promer AI Ads, AdCreator AI, Wake AI and PotionAds make ads from your product photos, and some publish to Meta for you. They save hours. None of them can judge whether the result is true to your product and your brand. That part stays with you.

    Where brands.menu fits

    Key point

Push AI ads to the brands.menu canvas as drafts. They sit next to your live ads, pages and Klaviyo emails, you approve the ones that pass, and an ad sent to Meta is created paused until you turn it on.

    FAQ

How do you review an AI generated ad?

Check facts first: product, text, price, claims, proof and rights. Then check placement, the landing page and brand fit. One person approves the final file.

Can AI ads include customer reviews?

Only real ones you can source. In the US the FTC rule bans fake reviews and testimonials, including AI generated ones.

What are the most common errors in AI product ads?

Small changes to the product, invented badges and ratings, garbled text and odd hands or reflections.

How long should a review take?

A focused check takes a few minutes per ad. Reviewing by concept in batches is faster than one ad at a time.
